Eclectic - overlay bedside mosaic rug

Writer's picture: Adré DoidgeAdré Doidge

This is a design I did last year (2020) soon after I learnt how to do a mosaic overlay design. I have been very slack in writing it up (I really need to get it finished), and, as I don't have the premium version of Stitchfiddle, I have to do the written version of the graph myself and that takes ages! I will be using it as a rug next to my bed. Using Lisa Richardson's reversible technique makes for an even denser fabric, perfect for a rug. Here is a peek of my progress on my test swatch thus far (I have been distracted by way too many other projects). I still have one more design feature to finish , the start of which you can just see appearing before finishing the last three repeats.

Below is the reverse or negative image side of the rug. As you may notice, I made a mistake in the first design element, but it is not the end of the world as I will not be using it with that side facing, fortunately. I am still debating whether i should do a double or envelope border and probably will as the tails are not on the correct side for a rug.

I have really enjoyed the process and already have another design that I have completed, but still need to write up. I wish I could simply wave a magic wand and the written pattern would just appear!
